Umpqua Bank Commercial Credit Review Manager in Eugene, Oregon

In this role, you will review, approve, decline, or recommend commercial credit applications within assigned approval limits while maintaining risk exposure consistent with bank loan quality guidelines.

Functions

  • Review preflight memos and credit recommendations within a defined scope for accuracy, and approves or declines them within their respective credit approval limits.

  • Collaborate with commercial bankers to develop high quality loan portfolios.

  • Coach bankers in the development of complete, accurate and well-structured credit recommendations, including guidance and advice on financial analyses, loan structuring and other credit skills.

  • Help maintain commercial credit quality standards and provide strong and consistent credit leadership.

  • Monitor and verify risk rating accuracy on loans submitted for approval.

  • Advise loan officers on the risk rating process and ensures timely documentation of migrations.

  • Ensure lending staff is aware of all relevant changes in credit requirements.

  • Contribute to the development of credit policies, processes and methodologies.

  • Develop and analyze financial background data for new or renewed loans. May engage with existing or prospective clients as part of the bank's due diligence and monitoring activities.

  • Demonstrate compliance with all bank regulations that apply to your position, and keep up to date on regulation changes.

  • Maintain working knowledge of our policies and procedures regarding the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations that apply to your position.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent.

  • 10+ years of relevant commercial lending and credit experience.

  • Experience developing, modifying, and executing company policies that affect immediate operation(s) and company-wide effect.

  • Ability to regularly interact with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions and/or customers.

  • Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance of, others in sensitive situations.

  • Excellent relationship management and business development abilities, analytical and problem-solving skills, sales skills, and credit and credit quality skills with prior lending authority experience.

  • Proven track record of success in developing new clients and business, including prospecting, sourcing and networking.

  • Expert knowledge of commercial C&I bank products and services that result in successfully capitalizing on all opportunities to cross-sell the bank's products.

  • Experience managing and developing others and ability to build and maintain relationships.

  • Excellent planning and organization skills with the ability to change course (adaptable) at a moment's notice.

  • The ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance of, others in sensitive situations.

  • Ability to train and present to small and large audiences or has the interest in learning to train and present.
