Conducts interviews with prospective borrowers to analyze financial and credit data, determines customer financing objectives, advises customer on product/pricing policies and guidelines, and gathers any additional required information. Ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics and complying with all Federal and State compliance policies. Obtains required documents (i.e. appraisals, title reports, financial information), takes applications and follows through to closing. Cross-sells other bank services to mortgage customers. Works with underwriting, processing, funding and closing by following the transaction through to its conclusion. Sells the advantages of the company and various loan products. The loan officer is an outside exempt sales officer and is expected to spend at least 51% of work time outside of the office developing/marketing/selling mortgage residential loans.\n\nDemonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities \u2013 knowledge will be gained through coursework, sales training and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes. Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual required or job-specific training. Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words. Takes personal initiative and is a positive example for others to emulate. All MLO\u2019s will be required to register as a MLO complying with the S.A.F.E. Act requirements.\n\nWorks on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Prior mortgage lending and sales experience required and a successful track record in sales.\n\nRequirements:\n- 8-12 years of relevant mortgage originating and structuring experience.\n- Demonstrated knowledge of the mortgage industry, including processing, underwriting, closing and funding loan.\n- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.\n- Experience collecting and analyzing borrower income and negotiating skills.\n- Excellent written and verbal communication.\n- Ability to organize and prioritize, manage and perform multiple tasks.\n- Detail-oriented and able to meet strict deadlines.\n- Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups across the company to manage internal and external customer relationships.\n- Proficiency with personal computers and related software packages such as Word and Excel, and other business machines.\n- Previous mortgage self-generated origination/sales experience required.\n- Requires a bachelor\u2019s degree in business, finance, or equivalent.\n- Must be registered as a MLO as per the S.A.F.E.
